Sweet or Savoury? What’s Your Flavour?

My favourite sweet and savoury snack recipes into one book The Little Book of Vegan Snacks and it's available now. Sweet or savoury?

If I had to choose between sweet food and savoury food I would choose sweet every day. Sweet food melting delectably on my taste buds, the sensation of a crunch of a cookie, the richness of chocolate melting in my mouth, the surprise of a berry squishing between my teeth, the chewy caramel oozing over my tongue … How can savoury food possibly compete?

To be honest, there are moments when savoury food gets a little peek. And when it does, I sometimes wonder why I don’t like it more. The crunch of a vegetable that snaps to perfection, the saltiness that leaves a tang on my tastebuds, the smoothness that coats my tongue and the tartness and flavour of a spice.

I’ve spent a lot of time lately switching between sweet and savoury foods and whilst the sweet wins hands down the savoury has a special place too. My days have consisted of perfecting some of my favourite sweet and savoury recipes to be revealed in my latest book, “The Little Book of Vegan Snacks“, which I can now say is available on Amazon. It includes sweet snacks (of course), along with savoury snacks, most of which can be prepared in less than thirty minutes.

What’s your flavour and do you ever crave the opposite?

Ever since I was little my favourite thing to cook and eat has been anything sweet.

The other thing I love is snacking. I love to eat. Full stop. End of story. I feel like it’s such a waste of taste buds if we only eat three meals a day.

I think we (well, I) need to eat more often. To have food, to be chewing and tasting and eating. So my favourite meal of the day is not actually a meal, it’s the snacks I relish between my meals. I don’t know if that’s a healthy thing. I’m sure there is a study that agrees with me, that we need to snack, so I’m going with the opinion that we should snack.

Rather than ramble on about my love of snacks I’m going to let my pictures do the talking. These are just some of the pictures that didn’t make it into the Snacks cook book. Not because they weren’t good enough, just because others were better.

If you’ve enjoyed just some of these pictures, I’m sure you’ll love the rest of what’s in the book. Take a look. It’s available from my website and from Amazon.

Buy it, try some recipes and tell me what you think. And I’d love to know, if you could only eat sweet OR savoury for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

Yes I would have to agree with Tegan. I am a savoury girl. I definitely like sweet, especially anything chocolate, but I usually go savoury especially with snacks.

    Photos look awesome!

Thanks Kelly. I really love taking photographs of food.
It looks like you’re sharing the savoury with Tegan, so I still get all the sweet suff.
